MADISON, S.D. – The Mobridge-Pollock Lady Tigers took their second loss of the season against the Sioux Valley Cossacks Saturday night 62-47 in their second straight state championship rematch from last March. In their first game back after the loss to Hamlin on Tuesday, this game was neck and neck until midway through the fourth quarter when Sioux Valley hit another gear to pull away for the win, knocking the Lady Tigers to 3-2 on their season.
Both teams had many quality performances in this game. For the Lady Tigers Tegan Konald, Brooke Bain, and Faith Heil were impressive scoring all over the floor, but late in the fourth quarter it was Kailey Cradduck, Liberty Trygstead, and Talya Vincent exploding on offense to pull away from the Lady Tigers. Talya Vincent also added a lot on defense in this one especially late in the fourth quarter as the Lady Tigers were trying to keep up making her the Riverside Home Furnishing Player of the Game.
The first quarter of this game got started quickly with both teams getting a lot of shots off and early in this one it was a back and forth with no team gaining a real edge. At half time the score was tied at 24 and both teams looked even in this one, a trend that would continue throughout the third quarter into the fourth. About midway through the fourth quarter however something switched on for Sioux Valley as all of the sudden they could not miss a shot, and defensively they were turning over Mobridge-Pollock with ease. In the end Sioux Valley gets the 62-47 win, a score not indicative of how close this game really was but in the end Sioux Valley went hot and the Lady Tigers went cold as they dropped their second straight game.
In their next time out Mobridge-Pollock will take on Shiloh Christian in a return to their home court Tuesday, January 6 with tipoff scheduled at 5 p.m.

MADISON, S.D. – The Mobridge-Pollock Tigers got their second straight win last night besting Hill City 69-47 at the Madison Classic. The Tigers got the scoring started and didn’t look back as they led nearly the entire game as they advanced to 3-2 on the season.
For a team still looking to figure out roster changes this season, the Tigers definitely found something in this game. Unselfish basketball getting everyone involved and a couple of Tigers deserve their flowers for this performance. The lone freshman on varsity Kadin Kuehl has started to find an expanded role off the bench and looked good in his minutes played against Hill City. Kyson Good Shield continues to impress in the starting lineup. Trueth Crow Ghost has looked good in his early season sixth man role as one of the teams most consistent scorers when he does shoot. Kale Knudson was more comfortable in this game then we have seen so far quarterbacking this offense and finding looks for himself or his teammates including his quarterback from the football season Shooter Frederick who had his best performance of the season defensively and is really starting to heat up on offense making him our Riverside Home Furnishing Player of the Game.
The first half of this contest started out with a back and fourth thank to Hill City’s senior guard Zane Messick making some tough shots at the beginning of the game to keep it close, but the Tigers looked comfortable playing their fast paced style of ball and dominated early in the transition game to set themselves up for some easy looks. Into the second half Hill City adjusted and slowed down their offense making it a more even second half but Mobridge-Pollock continued to look good playing their best team ball of the season so far en route to their 69-47 win.
In their next time out Mobridge-Pollock will return home to take on Miller Thursday, January 8 with tipoff scheduled around 7:30 p.m.
