EAGAN, MN – Vikings’ offensive left tackle Riley Reiff missed practice Monday, fueling speculation that he may soon be released.
There are multiple reports that Reiff, a native of Parkston, has been told that he would be released if he did not accept a pay cut. Pro Football Talk reported that Reiff told teammates that he does expect to be let go.
OverThe Cap.com estimates that if the Vikings were to release Reiff, they would save $10.9 million against the salary cap.
After spending his first five NFL seasons with Detroit, Reiff signed a five-year, $58.75 million deal with the Vikings in 2017 and has spent the last three seasons as the Vikings’ starting left tackle.
Another sign that Reiff could be on his way out is that Brian O’Neill, who has played right tackle in each of his first two seasons, moved to left tackle in Sunday’s practice.
