Elgin Logg, 64, of Eagle Butte, entered the Spirit World on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the Cheyenne River Health Center in Eagle Butte.

Elgin was born on May 14, 1962, in Eagle Butte, South Dakota, to Joshua Logg, Sr., and Virginia Mae (Black Prairie Dog) Logg. He spent much of his life in South Dakota and always held a special place in his heart for the time he spent living in Minnesota.
As a young man, Elgin enjoyed playing basketball during his high school years. He later attended college for a time, where he especially enjoyed studying music.
Elgin was proud of his Lakota heritage and found strength and comfort in his Christian faith. He was a familiar face at the Lakota Cultural Center in Eagle Butte, where he enjoyed spending time and staying connected to his Lakota heritage. He was known for encouraging family and friends with words of faith and support, often reminding them to trust in the Lord, pursue their education, and follow their dreams. He never hesitated to tell those he loved that he was proud of them. He had a distinctive sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh, often sharing stories about his family and their history. He treasured those memories and enjoyed passing them on to future generations. He valued kindness, positivity, and genuine friendships, choosing to surround himself with people who uplifted one another.
He is survived by his eldest daughter, Mary (Logg) Donley; his sons, Elgin Logg, Jr. and Cornelius Logg; and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joshua Logg, Sr. and Virginia Mae (Black Prairie Dog) Logg; his brothers, Joshua Brian Logg, Jr., Adrian Logg, Lewellyn Logg, and Cornelius Logg; and his sisters, Juanita Logg and Annabel Logg.
Though his journey on earth has ended, Elgin’s words of encouragement, quiet faith, laughter, and love for his family will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
One of Elgin’s favorite Bible verses was Joshua 24:15: “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Elgin’s arrangements.
