The Stop the Spread South Dakota group is holding a COVID-19 Memorial Display tomorrow (Nov. 26) in Hilger’s Gulch on the State Capitol grounds in Pierre.
The exhibit is meant to represent and honor the over 800 South Dakotans who have died because of COVID-19, as well as their families.
Foot traffic is discouraged, so the display will be broadcast starting at 10am CST on Facebook.com/StoptheSpreadSD to encourage the social distancing and infection control measures needed to help contain COVID-19. If in-person viewership is desired, attendees may drive past the site. Only the small work crew should be present at the display.
The South Dakota Synod has graciously agreed to be a fiscal sponsor for this event. All donations will go toward the cost of the memorial. Any leftover funds will be carefully directed with the assistance of the SD Synod toward entities directly affected by COVID19: food banks, churches, hospitals, etc. We will inform you of the use of funds through our page.
To donate to our cause, you can visit the SD Synod at sdsynod.org and click the red “donate” button. Make sure to note #StoptheSpreadSD in the memo.
For checks or mailed donations, please specify #StoptheSpreadSD in the memo line and send to:
