PIERRE – Track and field athletes Autumn Iverson and Lincoln Kienholz are the Pierre Athletic Coaches Association-Avera Athletes of the Week for the week ending May 1.
Iverson timed 5:36 in the 1600 meters on April 30 at the O’Gorman Invitational, her personal best and nearly five seconds better than her previous best time. Iverson’s run puts her in the top 10 in program history and in the top 24 this season in AA.
Governor Track & Field Head Coach Greg Starr said, “Autumn is starting to see her potential as a distance runner and learns from every race on how to improve.”
Kienholz won both the high jump and long jump at the O’Gorman Invitational. His high jump of six feet, six inches equals the best in South Dakota this season and is tied for the fourth-best high jump in Governor history. Kienholz’s winning long jump of 20 feet, nine and a half inches is sixth best this year in AA.
