LINCOLN, NE – Layni Stevens of St. Lawrence and six other Central South Dakota cowboys and cowgirls are set to compete at the National High School Finals Rodeo, which begins Sunday at the Lancaster Event Center.
Stevens will take part in goat tying, which she won last month at the South Dakota High School Finals Rodeo at the Stanley County Fairgrounds in Fort Pierre, barrel racing and pole bending.
Other central South Dakota qualifiers include Trey Fuller of Faith in boys cutting, Jackson Grimes of Kadoka in reined cow horse, Traylin Martin of Faith in saddle bronc, and Tracer Olson of White River, who will team with Bodey Waln of Martin in team roping.
Also, two Pierre shooters will take part in the national competition, Jenna Kruger in rifle and Jessica Hays in trap shooting.
