TOKYO – Former Aberdeen resident Michael Andrew again failed to medal in his second swimming final of the Olympics, finishing fifth in the 200 meter individual medley Friday.
Andrew completed the race in 1:57.31, over a second from a medal-winning place. Andrew had the best first and third laps, but was fifth in the second and fourth laps.
Also Friday, Andrew qualified for the 50 meter freestyle semifinals with a time of 21.89 seconds. Those semifinals will be held Saturday (Friday evening U.S. time).
