SIOUX FALLS – Summit League Commissioner Tom Douple announced his retirement Wednesday. It will take effect October 1.
Douple became the leader of what was then known as the Mid-Continent Conference in September 2005, heading a re-brand and transformation of the league. Eight new members came to the Summit League and two former members returned during Douple’s leadership.
More recently, Douple led the effort to bring the University of St. Thomas into the Summit League, making it the first NCAA athletic program to jump directly from Division III up to Division I.
Myndee Kay Larsen was named as the interim commissioner. Larsen has served as the Summit League’s deputy commissioner since March 2018 and has been with the conference since October 2006.
