WILLIAMSPORT, PA – South Dakota has a team in the Little League World Series for the fifth time, and it will begin play on Friday.
The team from Sioux Falls will face Lafayette, Louisiana at 4:00 PM Central time on Friday.
In the double-elimination tournament, Sioux Falls would play on Sunday with a win on Friday or play again Saturday with a Friday loss.
Sioux Falls had a team at the LLWS in 2017, the last previous appearance for a South Dakota team. This year’s team will look to improve on a 1-11 all-time record for South Dakota teams, the lowest win percentage for any state.
Due to COVID-19 protocols, all 16 teams in this year’s Little League World Series are from the United States. Little League officials recently announced that only family and friends of participating teams will be allowed to attend. No general admission tickets are being sold.
