WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Gavin Weir is helping Sioux Falls rewrite South Dakota Little League World Series history.
Weir’s three-run home run was the difference Monday as Sioux Falls defeated Oswego, Oregon 3-0 to become the first team from the Midwest region to win consecutive LLWS games.
Weir, who helped pitch a combined no-hitter in a win last Friday over Lafayette, Louisiana, hit his home run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Maddux Munson continued Sioux Falls’ dominant pitching with a shutout and four strikeouts.
Before last Friday, South Dakota teams had been 1-11 all-time at the Little League World Series.
Sioux Falls will next play Wednesday against Torrance, California. The winner will advance to the final of the Tom Seaver Division on Saturday.
