BROOKINGS – South Dakota State has named its quarterback to begin the 2021 football season.
SDSU will go with grad transfer Chris Oladokun. He has been a starter at South Florida and Samford, where he passed for over 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns while rushing for eight scores in 2019. Sophomore Keaton Heide will be Oladokun’s backup.
Competition was needed between those two because Mark Gronowski, who led the Jackrabbits to this spring’s FCS championship game, and 2019 starter J’Bore Gibbs are both out for the season with knee injuries.
SDSU will open at Colorado State on Friday, September 3.
