Pierre’s Deer Management Task Force has determined there’s no need for a harvest in city limits this year.
City commissioner Blake Barringer says police department records show there’s been seven crashes involving deer and four complaints of deer in town so far this year.
By comparison, in all of 2018, there were seven crashes involving deer in Pierre and five complaints of deer in town.

The Deer Management Task Force is comprised of a city commissioner and nine citizens appointed by the Pierre City Commission. The Task Force was established in 2007 by the City Commission to establish and administer an urban deer management program.
