EAGAN, MN – Linebacker help came for the injury-riddled Vikings Thursday when they signed free agent Todd Davis to a one-year contract. Davis has started the last four seasons for the Broncos and was their leader in tackles for three of the previous four seasons. It’s possible that if Davis practices well enough through Friday, he could start Sunday against Tennessee, in the spot where Anthony Barr had been. Barr was placed on injured reserve Monday with a torn pectoral muscle and his season is over.
Rookie linebacker Troy Dye was placed on injured reserve with a midfoot sprain suffered last week against the Colts. The Vikings are hoping that Dye will miss only the required three weeks.
