PIERRE – Track & field athlete Aleise Christopherson and baseball’s Lincoln Kienholz are the Pierre Athletic Coaches Association-Avera Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 3.
Christopherson won the high jump March 30 at the ESD indoor meet at the Barnett Center in Aberdeen with a jump of 15 feet, 11-and-a-half inches. That is eighth best among Governor girls all-time. Christopherson also was eighth in the 200 meters at 28.68 seconds. Head Coach Greg Starr said of Christopherson, “She is off to a great start to her high school track career and with her work ethic will continue to grow!”
In Governor Baseball’s season-opening doubleheader sweeps of Rapid City Stevens and Rapid City Central, Kienholz was 11-of-16 with two doubles, five triples, five RBI and five stolen bases. Kienholz is now in the top three of Governor Baseball history for triples in a career and in a single season.
