CHICAGO – Four South Dakota State Jackrabbits have been named to the Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America football team.
First-team selections included linebacker Logan Backhaus and offensive lineman Garret Greenfield. Backhaus ranked second on the Jacks in tackles last season with 72, including nine and a half tackles for loss. He had double-figure tackle games three times, including 14, a career high, in a playoff quarterfinal win against Southern Illinois. Greenfield was a consensus All-American at right tackle, helping SDSU to rush for nearly 232 yards per game in the 2021 spring season.
Running back Pierre Strong Jr. was named to the second team. Strong averaged over five yards a carry in nine games with 707 yards and three touchdowns rushing. He also caught 20 passes, one for a score, with 178 yards.
Isaiah Davis was named to the third team as an all-purpose back. Davis led the Jacks in rushing with 818 yards and had a team-high 10 touchdowns. He had seven catches for 107 yards, led SDSU in all-purpose yards per game with 115.3, and averaged 32.6 yards on seven kickoff returns.
