SIOUX FALLS – 2020 inductees of the South Dakota Basketball Hall Of Fame will at last be inducted at a banquet on August 28 at the Sioux Falls Ramkota Hotel.
Originally, 13 new members were to have been inducted last year, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the event. It was then rescheduled for March of this year before being postponed again.
Two players who starred for Central South Dakota high schools will be honored. One is Dave Thomas, who led Onida to a 28-0 record and the Class B state championship in 1969 before helping South Dakota State win two NCC championships.
The other is the late Stanton Uhlir, South Dakota high school basketball’s first 2,000-point scorer for Kadoka. In the 1951 Class B tournament, Uhlir scored 92 points, including 50 in a consolation game.
