WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Again, Gavin Weir was unhittable.
The Sioux Falls Little League ace pitched his third complete-game no-hitter in the playoffs Wednesday as Sioux Falls defeated Torrance, California 1-0 at the Little League World Series to advance to the Tom Seaver Division final on Saturday.
Weir struck out 14. Only a walk prevented a perfect game.
Weir was involved in a no-hitter for the second time at Williamsport. He combined with Cason Mediger in a 2-0 no-hit win over Lafayette, Louisiana last Friday. Weir pitched a perfect game and a no-hitter in the recent Midwest Regional Little League tournament.
He threw 65 pitches on Wednesday, so he will not be able to pitch on Sunday if Sioux Falls reaches the championship game. To do so, they will have to beat either Hamilton, Ohio or Torrance, California on Saturday.
