A Pierre resident is the subject of the newest addition to “The Eagles Gallery” located in the Pierre Regional Airport.
Following an unveiling ceremony last week (Sept. 16, 2022), Wade Hubbard told DRG News he was a little overwhelmed.
Hubbard served during the Vietnam Era War and was awarded five Distinguished Flying Crosses and The Purple Heart medal.
Hubbard accumulated 428 combat missions and survived being shot down over enemy-held Cambodia.
“The Eagles Gallery” also features the aircraft flown by “Doolittle Raiders” Henry “Hank” Potter from Pierre and Don Smith from Oldham; Distinguished Flying Cross recipient Harold Thune from Murdo; Navy Cross recipient Curtis Cameron of Pierpont; and Battle of Midway hero John Waldron from Fort Pierre.
“The Eagles Gallery” is a service project of the Rotary Club of Pierre/Fort Pierre. All of the artwork has been done by artist John Mollison.
