VERMILLION – A two-year-old program has a state championship, completing a dominant season.
Sioux Falls Jefferson completed an unbeaten season Saturday with a 48-21 win over Harrisburg in the SDHSAA 11AAA Football Championship at the DakotaDome. Taylen Ashley passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more for Jefferson (12-0).
Ashley’s 34-yard touchdown pass to Robert Hutchinson with 2:06 left in the first half put Jefferson ahead for good, 21-14.
In the third quarter, Ashley threw a touchdown pass to Sam Siegfried and ran for a touchdown. Nelson Wright then carried in a touchdown and Jefferson led 48-14.
Ashley was 14-of-16 for 203 yards and two touchdowns passing with nine carries for 61 yards and two scores. Wright carried for 162 yards on 20 carries.
Dylan Elrod passed for touchdowns to Tytan Tryon and Aidan Foley for Harrisburg (9-3).
