SIOUX FALLS – A season that had a promising start but ended in disappointment for University of Sioux Falls Football has led to a coaching change.
Head Coach Jon Anderson was fired Monday after six seasons as the head coach with a record of 40-17.
USF started 7-0 this season and was ranked as high as 11th in Division II. But the Cougars then lost their next three games, including a home game to Wayne State where USF couldn’t hold a 14-point fourth quarter lead. A win this past Saturday over Upper Iowa left the Cougars at 8-3 and without an at-large bid to the Division II playoffs.
Anderson coached two players currently in the NFL, offensive tackle Trey Pipkins of the Los Angeles Chargers and linebacker Dennis Gardeck of the Arizona Cardinals.
