SELBY – South Dakota’s all-time leading rusher says that he will continue his football career at the next level.
Brenden Begeman, who led Herreid/Selby Area to the 9B state championship game last week, announced Tuesday on Twitter that he has made an oral commitment to play at South Dakota State.
Begeman rushed for 2.976 yards this season to set the state’s single-season rushing record and rushed for 6,807 yards for his career, one more than Luke Loudenburg rushed for Howard last decade.
Begeman rushed for 189 yards on November 10 in a 50-28 loss to Hitchcock-Tulare in the 9B title game at the DakotaDome in Vermillion.
Begeman would play for Jackrabbits’ Head Coach John Stiegelmeier, who is a Selby native.
