SIOUX FALLS – Warner, in search of a second straight championship, and Chester Area took semifinal wins Friday in the SDHSAA Class B Volleyball State Championship at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
Semifinals
(1)Warner def. (5)Wolsey-Wessington, 25-20, 25-15, 25-11
Warner (36-2), who racked up 68 kills in a first round win, had 41 more in a sweep of Wolsey-Wessington. Kyra Marcuson led the Monarchs with 13.
Mya Boomsma, Mallory Miller and Leah Williams each scored six kills for Wolsey-Wessington (29-5).
(3)Chester Area def. (2)Burke, 24-26, 25-19, 27-25, 25-22
Chester Area (28-5) fought through four tight sets, paced by Lily Van Hal, who had 23 kills, three aces, 20 set assists and 13 digs.
Kailee Frank had 18 kills for Burke (32-5).
Consolation
(4)Northwestern def. (8)Freeman, 25-17, 25-12, 25-15
Ella Haven was dominant for Northwestern (28-9), with 25 kills, four aces and a solo block.
Kate Miller led Freeman (21-11) with nine kills.
(7)Castlewood def. (6)Colman-Egan, 25-18, 17-25, 27-25, 25-18
Castlewood (23-8) had three double-digit killers, led by 17 from Mackenzie Everson.
Berkley Gross scored 10 kills for Colman-Egan (23-11).
