KANSAS CITY – RayQuawndis Mitchell hit five three-pointers and scored 28 points Monday as Kansas City dropped South Dakota in the Summit League Men’s Basketball opener 62-45 at the Swinney Center.
Mitchell also had five rebounds for Kansas City (5-9, 1-0). Shemarri Allen added 13 for the Kangaroos.
Tasos Kamateros scored 11 points for USD (5-8, 0-1). A.J. Plitzuweit scored 10 for the Coyotes, who shot just 30 percent from the field.

VERMILLION – Grace Larkins scored 31 points and came close to a triple-double Monday as South Dakota Women’s Basketball won its Summit League opener and snapped a six-game losing streak with an 82-59 win over Kansas City at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
Larkins was 11-of-17 shooting for the Coyotes (5-7, 1-0) and had eight rebounds and a career-high eight assists. Walker Demers scored 11.
Rain Green scored 21 for Kansas City (4-8, 0-1).
