PIERRE – The Pierre Governor Boys Basketball rivalry with Winner is good and friendly, but after two straight losses to the Class A program, the Governors had had enough on Tuesday.
After Winner scored the game’s first seven points, the Governors put together a 19-0 first quarter run and were never threatened again in a 66-32 win at the Riggs High Gym that broke a two-game losing streak.
Lincoln Kienholz, who had missed the previous two games while at the high school football All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas, led the Governors (6-2) with 17 points and six rebounds and hit a three-pointer during the big run. Ben Heisler tallied 11. Brecken Krueger scored 10 with six rebounds and hit two three-pointers during the first quarter surge. Jackson Edman had nine points.
Blake Volmer paced Winner (6-1) with 11 points. Aiden Barfuss scored 10.
