Sanford Chamberlain Medical Center Auxiliary, Chamberlain Law Enforcement, Fire Department and Community Blood Bank are hosting their annual Guns N’ Hoses community blood drive today (March 27, 2023) from 10am-12:30pm and 2-6pm at the Chamberlain Fire Station (115 Courtland St).
The friendly competition between the Chamberlain Law Enforcement and Fire Department will help encourage local blood donors to donate blood, support local heroes and provide lifesaving blood to Sanford Chamberlain Medical Center. The winner of the competition receives a traveling trophy and bragging rights for the year.
“With severe weather occurring over many weeks, nearly two weeks of blood drives have been cancelled. On top of these cancellations, collections have been challenged due to cold and flu season,” said Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank. “Among those who benefit from donated blood are trauma, burn victims, cancer patients, and persons undergoing surgery. You can donate blood every 56 days and provide hope to local patients in need.”
Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org), weigh 110 lbs or more and be in good general health
the day of the donation. Please bring an I.D. It is recommended that a person eat and drink plenty of fluid prior to donating.
To schedule your donation call Karon Bishop at 605-730-1128. For information log onto www.cbblifeblood.org. All who donate receive a $10 Subway gift card.
