Snow forces 70th annual Pierre Elks Easter Egg Hunt to be held on State Capital Lawn
The 70th annual Pierre Elks Lodge Easter Egg Hunt will be held Sunday (April 9, 2023), but it will be at a different location than it traditionally has been.
It’ll be held from 1-2pm CT on the south lawn at the South Dakota State Capitol. The snow this week has caused the conditions at the Governor’s Residence to be unsuitable for hosting the event.
Elks Exalted Ruler Heather Perry says children up to age 12 are invited to participate. She says there will be age-group specific areas for 0-2 year olds, 3-4 year olds, 5-6 year olds, 7-8 year olds and those 9 years and older
Perry says as a new feature this year, two bikes will be raffled off before the hunt starts. Tickets will be handed out to any child interested in winning one of the bikes. Kids will also have the opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny.
Lieutenant Governor Larry Rhoden is hosting the event.
