SEPTEMBER 25, 2023:
A 51 year old man from Norris, SD, has been identified as the person who died Tuesday afternoon in a two vehicle crash 5 miles north of Parmelee, SD.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates a 1999 Freightliner FLD120 semi with trailer was traveling west on 277th Street near its intersection with SD Highway 63. The driver stopped at the intersection and then turned south on SD 63. A 1993 Peterbilt Conventional semi with trailer was traveling north on SD 63 and struck the Freightliner’s trailer which caused the Freightliner and trailer to rollover.
The driver of the Freightliner, Richard Bauer, age 82, of Kilgore, NE, was not injured. He was wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the Peterbilt, Peter Ferguson, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

One person died yesterday afternoon (Sept. 19, 2023, 3:53pm) in a two vehicle crash five miles north of Parmelee, SD.
The names of the persons involved have not been released pending notification of family members.

The 82-year-old male driver of the Freightliner was not injured. He was wearing a seatbelt.
