OCTOBER 6, 2023:
It’s an event you can’t see anywhere in South Dakota except in Fort Pierre– horse races and they are this tomorrow and Sunday (Oct. 7-8, 2023) at the Stanley County Fairgrounds.
Shane Kramme with the Verendrye Benevolent Association says this is the 75th year of the races at Fort Pierre.
Kramme says horse racing is what brought his family to the Fort Pierre area.
Kramme says the horse races are a fun, family friendly social event. He says for those who would like to, parimutuel betting will be available.
Post time for the first race on both Saturday and Sunday is 1pm CT.
No coolers allowed. Concessions will be available under the grandstand.

It’s horse racing weekend this weekend (Oct. 7-8, 2023) at the Stanley County Fairgrounds in Fort Pierre.
Shane Kramme with the Verendrye Benevolent Association says this is the 75th year of the races.
Fort Pierre used to host the horse races in the spring, but has moved to fall races the past few years. Kramme says the timing works well with other race circuits.
He says the horse races are a fun, family friendly social event.
For those who would like to, Kramme says parimutuel betting will be available.
Post time for the first horse race each day is 1pm CT.
