RAPID CITY – South Dakota high school volleyball’s greatest championship dynasty continues.
Taylor Byl had 19 kills and Sidney Oostra had 15 Saturday as Sioux Falls Christian won its seventh consecutive state championship 25-15, 22-25, 25-23, 25-14 over Rapid City Christian at the SDHSAA Class A State Volleyball Tournament at the Summit Arena at The Monument.
Oostra also had four aces, a solo block, a block assist and 21 digs. Byl also had two solo blocks and three block assists.
Sioux Falls Christian (35-4) has now won 13 state championships, all since 2007.
Ana Egge had 22 kills for Rapid City Christian (35-6) as the Comets had their best state tournament result in program history.
3rd Place: Dell Rapids def. Miller, 25-15, 25-20, 25-21
5th Place: Dakota Valley def. Platte-Geddes, 23-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-16
The Panthers (21-11) won fifth place for the second straight year as Claire Munch had 17 kills. Sophie Tuttle scored 15 kills and Samantha Kimbell scored 12.
Cadence Van had 19 kills and two aces for Platte-Geddes (27-7).
7th Place: Wagner def. Lennox, 25-20, 25-19, 25-18
Kya Kjeldgaard led Wagner (27-8) with 12 kills, an ace, two block assists and 15 digs.
For Lennox (19-13), Carli Kuyper had eight kills.
