Defending champion South Dakota State and South Dakota both have top-eight seeds for the FCS playoffs, meaning that both will have first-round byes and play their first playoff games on December 2.
South Dakota State, which completed the first unbeaten and untied regular season in school history Saturday with a home win over Missouri State, is the top overall seed. The Jackrabbits will host a second-round game at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium in Brookings on Saturday, December 2 against the winner of this Saturday’s first round game between Mercer and Gardner-Webb.
South Dakota is the number three seed, the Coyotes’ highest seeding ever. On December 2 at the DakotaDome in Vermillion, USD will host the winner of this Saturday’s game between North Dakota and Sacramento State.
