The Hughes County Commission is considering buying a system to help county offices migrate from physically storing information on paper to an electronic storage and organization system.
County Manager Lori Jacobson says the Square 9 system would make searching through files much easier.
Jacobson used the Care of the Poor documents as an example.
Hughes County Finance Officer Thomas Oliva says the system could also help purge files that are no longer needed.
Jacobson shared examples of entities in Pierre who are already using the Square 9 system.
As for how secure the is, Jacobson and Oliva say it meets government compliance requirements.
Hughes County Commissioners asked Jacobson and Oliva to gather more information about cost, so they can make a decision at an upcoming meeting.
