EVANSVILLE, IN – A comeback effort fell just short Thursday for Black Hills State men’s basketball in the NCAA Division II semifinal.
Down 18 at one point, the Yellow Jackets cut the lead to three late in the game, but lost to West Liberty (WV) 87-82 at the Ford Center.
West Liberty’s pressure defense limited BHSU (29-6) to 34% shooting in the first half and 42% for the game, but Joel Scott led the comeback, scoring 23 of his game-high 30 points in the second half. PJ Hayes scored 17.
Black Hills State lost in the semifinal game for the second straight season. The Yellow Jackets lost last year to eventual national champion Northwest Missouri State.
