TAMPA, FL – On the day that he was named as the Twins’ Opening Day starter, Pablo López allowed two runs and two hits in three innings Friday in Minnesota’s 6-4 spring training win over the New York Yankees at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
López also struck out two and walked two. He will face Kansas City’s Zach Greinke in the regular season opener on Thursday at Kauffman Stadium (2:30 PM, 1060/103.1 KGFX).
Kenta Maeda earned the win on Friday, pitching five innings and striking out five.
Minor league outfielder Emmanuel Rodriguez hit a go-ahead three-run homer for the Twins (11-13-13) in a four-run ninth inning.
