ABERDEEN – Sioux Falls Lincoln had the best pitching all through the first season of AA softball, and another great performance gave the Patriots the title.
Madison Evans pitched a three-hit shutout Saturday to help Lincoln to a 3-0 win over Brookings in the first SDHSAA AA Softball Championship at Kohler Hall of Fame Stadium at Northern State University.
Evans struck out eight and walked five for the Patriots (19-2).
Kierra Lubovich gave Lincoln the lead with an RBI single in the third. Katelyn Hamm doubled in the other two runs in the fifth.
Gracie Adamson and Ava Sandine doubled for Brookings (16-4).
3rd Place – Sioux Falls Jefferson 11, Brandon Valley 1
Kendal Kniffen and Sydney Taglow each drove in three to lead a 15-hit attack for Jefferson (17-5). Kniffen doubled twice. Brandon Valley (11-8) was held to four singles.
5th Place – Sioux Falls Washington 6, Harrisburg 3
Washington (15-6) broke a 3-3 tie with three runs in the sixth inning. Ava Brink hit the go-ahead single. Macy Brant tripled and drove in a run for Harrisburg (18-5).
7th Place – Yankton 6, O’Gorman 2
A four-run sixth inning by Yankton (13-9) broke a 2-2 tie. Payton Moser gave the Gazelles the lead with a two-run single. Mary Koch doubled and drove in a run for O’Gorman (12-9).
