NOVEMBER 2, 2023:
Two people from Pierre were among those recognized this week (Oct. 30, 2023) for their contributions toward ensuring those with disabilities have equal opportunities for employment.
During the annual Governor’s Awards ceremony, Governor Kristi Noem said the awards recognize achievement and contributions from both employees and employers.
Carrisa Brandt received the Outstanding Employee with a Disability award. She thanked those who support her.
Sandy Hook got a little emotional as she accepted the Distinguished Service award for her work with Disability Rights South Dakota.
The Governor’s Awards ceremony is sponsored by the South Dakota Department of Human Services, the South Dakota Board of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Board of Service to the Blind and Visually Impaired and the Statewide Independent Living Council.

OCTOBER 21, 2023:
Two people from Pierre will receive state recognition later this month for their contributions toward ensuring those with disabilities have equal opportunities to employment.
During the annual Governor’s Awards ceremony, Governor Kristi Noem and the South Dakota Department of Human Services will recognize the achievements of businesses, individuals with disabilities and other South Dakotans. The October 30, 2023, event will start at 11am CT in the State Capitol Rotunda. The ceremony is open to the public.
