Pierre updates tree trimming ordinance to accommodate larger vehicles
Pierre City Commissioners have approved changes to the town’s tree trimming ordinance.
According to Bryan Tipton, City Parks and Recreation Director, current ordinance requires trees hanging over public streets and alleys to be trimmed to at least 12 feet above the driving surface. That has been changed to 14 feet.
Tipton says that a 14-foot trimming minimum is common in other South Dakota communities. He says the plan is for the City to do the additional trimming.
