South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem delivered her budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2025 to a joint session of the state legislature this week (Dec. 5, 2023).
The Governor’s budget proposal includes a 4% increase for “the big three”– education, state employees and healthcare providers.
While the Appropriations Committee members will formulate the actual budget, South Dakota State Employees Organization Executive Director Eric Olilla says what a Governor proposes is important.
Ollila is optimistic about the proposed pay increase.
South Dakota lawmakers will consider Noem’s budget proposal during the legislative session that begins Jan. 9, 2024.
