People of all ages have a book to read when they walk along the edge of Fischers Lilly Park in Fort Pierre thanks to the work of some local organizations and their volunteers.
Kiwanis volunteer Kristin Gabriel says she got started on the StoryWalk about a year ago.
Gabriel says the first book on display aligns with this year’s theme of the 250th birthday of the United States.
While the idea may have started with her, Gabriel says many people came together to make the StoryWalk happen in Fort Pierre.
Anyone interested in being involved with community projects in Fort Pierre or Pierre in the future can reach out to the Kiwanis Club, the Friends of Rawlins Library or the Pierre Elks Lodge.

Wayfinder Designs created the design for the Backer Panels
AGE Corporation Contractors donated concrete, equipment and staff to help install the posts
City of Fort Piere for allowing us to use the beautiful Fischer’s Lilly Park as our location
