Two killed in Monday accident on I-90 near Bridgewater

Aug. 20, 2026:

Two people died early Monday morning (Aug. 17, 2026) in a two-vehicle crash near Bridgewater, South Dakota.

Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates Derrick Jason Brousseau (53, from Pacolet, SC), the driver of a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, was traveling westbound on Interstate 90 near mile marker 354. At the same time, Zarifjon Korakulov (30, from Brooklyn, NY), the driver of a 2016 Volvo semi-truck, was also traveling westbound at the same location. The Volvo collided with the back of the Harley-Davidson. Brousseau and his passenger, Deeann Annette Dyer (47, from Lewiston, ME), sustained fatal injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.

Two people died early Monday morning (Aug. 17, 2026) in a two-vehicle crash near Bridgewater, South Dakota.

Names of the those involved have not been released pending notification of family members.

Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates a 53 year old man from Pacolet, SC, was driving a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Interstate 90 near mile marker 354. At the same time, a 30 year old man from Brooklyn, NY, was driving a 2016 Volvo semi-truck westbound at the same location. The Volvo collided with the back of the Harley-Davidson. The Harley driver and passenger– a 47 year old woman from Lewiston, ME, sustained fatal injuries. Neither was wearing a helmet.

The investigation is ongoing.
