BROOKINGS – O’Gorman finished a perfect season Saturday by beating Huron in four sets to win the SDHSAA AA State Volleyball Tournament at the Swiftel Center. The Knights became the first AA team to have an unbeaten season since Sioux Falls Washington in 1991. O’Gorman won its seventh championship and first since 2014.

O’Gorman 3, Huron 1 (25-15, 25-17, 20-25, 25-18)
Bergen Reilly led O’Gorman (26-0) with 12 kills, 4 aces and 10 digs. Raegen Reilly had 24 assists. Brooke Schiltz led the Tigers (18-5) with 11 kills. Huron, who made the tournament for the 12th straight year, had its best finish since its second of back-to-back titles in 1999.
3rd Place
Sioux Falls Washington 3, Sioux Falls Roosevelt 2 (25-10, 25-19, 23-25, 22-25, 15-10)
Ellie Walker led with 20 of the Warriors’ 63 kills. Katy Richardson recorded 50 assists and 22 digs. Washington (17-6) has two third-place finishes and a runner-up finish in the last four years. Mya Vandrovec and Maddie Paulsen each had 7 kills for the Rough Riders (11-12), a five-time past champion making a third straight state appearance.
5th Place
Watertown 3, Aberdeen Central 0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-17)
Maggie Heesch led the 2019 state champion Arrows (23-5) with 16 kills. Brooklyn Kusler had 13 kills for the Eagles (18-10), three-time champions and at state for the first time since 2017.
7th Place
Brandon Valley 3, Harrisburg 2 (20-25, 25-23, 25-20, 21-25, 15-11)
Taylor Stemen had 13 kills and Liz Kopp 45 assists for the Lynx (19-9), who finished a first state tournament appearance in five years. Abby Meister had 20 kills and 24 digs for the Tigers (14-14). Harrisburg, in the tournament for the second straight year, has 3 championships.
