BROOKINGS – South Dakota State women’s basketball closed non-conference play Wednesday with a 74-63 win over Northern Iowa at Frost Arena.
Avenging a loss to UNI in Cedar Falls on December 12, the Jackrabbits used a balanced scoring attack. Tori Nelson led SDSU with 18 points. Myah Selland scored 17. Tylee Irwin and Paiton Burckhard each scored 12. Lindsey Theuninck had 10.
South Dakota State (7-2) led UNI 31-26 at halftime, then outscored the Panthers 26-12 in the third quarter. The Jackrabbits shot 44 percent while holding Northern Iowa to 35 percent shooting and outscored the visitors in the paint 38 to 20.
SDSU will play next in the Summit League opener January 8 in Brookings against Western Illinois.
