EAGAN, MN – Vikings’ offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak will reportedly retire after only one year on the job. The news was first reported by Pro Football Talk of NBC Sports and has not been confirmed by the Vikings.
Kubiak, who won Super Bowl 49 as the Denver Broncos’ head coach, came to the Vikings in 2019 as an offensive adviser, then became the coordinator this season after Kevin Stefanski left to become the Cleveland Browns’ head coach.
While finishing 7-9 this season, Minnesota had the fourth-best total offense in the NFL, the Vikings’ highest ranking since 2004.
Kubiak has been involved for four decades with the NFL, starting as the Broncos’ quarterback from 1983-91, being an assistant coach in 1994, then becoming the Texans’ head coach in 2006-13 before being the Broncos’ head coach in 2015 & 2016.
