PORT CHARLOTTE, FL – Kyle Garlick hit a go-ahead two-run home run in a four-run fifth inning Monday as the Minnesota Twins edged the Tampa Bay Rays 6-5 at Charlotte Sports Park.
Outfielder Brent Rooker also homered for the Twins (2-0).
Australian Lewis Thorpe started and pitched two scoreless innings for Minnesota.
On Tuesday, the Twins will meet the Braves in North Port, Florida.
