BROOKINGS – Three touchdowns of at least 40 yards in the second quarter broke open a close game Saturday and South Dakota State rolled over Western Illinois 45-10 at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium.
The Jackrabbits (2-1) had scoring runs from Mark Gronowski and Pierre Strong in the first quarter to take a 14-3 lead. In an eight-and-a-half minute span in the second quarter, Gronowski hit Jadon Janke with a 44-yard touchdown pass, Isaiah Davis had a 40-yard touchdown run and Gronowski scored from 80 yards.
SDSU will host Youngstown State in Brookings on Saturday.
