PORT CHARLOTTE, FL – Michael Pineda worked five innings in his second spring training start Wednesday as the Minnesota Twins fell to the Tampa Bay Rays 7-6 at Charlotte Sports Park.
Pineda allowed five runs and nine hits, including a home run to Joey Wendle. He also struck out four.
Andrelton Simmons hit his first spring home run for Minnesota (9-12-1). Trevor Larnach hit his second.
The Twins will play Boston on Thursday in Fort Myers.
