BROOKINGS – Three South Dakota high school football standouts have signed National Letters of Intent to play football for South Dakota State.
Quarterback Chase Mason, the former 9AA player of the year at Viborg-Hurley, is transferring from Nebraska to join SDSU. Mason had 55 combined touchdowns in 2018 and was a three-sport star before joining Nebraska to play baseball.
Defensive tackle Jace Sifore of Howard also joins the Jacks. Sifore helped Howard to the 9A championship this past season as an all-state tight end with 17 receptions, 401 yards and nine touchdowns. Defensively, Sifore had 46 tackles, four sacks and an interception.
Brandon Valley safety Noah Thompson also signed with SDSU. Thompson was twice all-state for the Lynx and had 69 tackles, four touchdowns, three sacks and two interceptions in two seasons as an 11AAA all-state player. Thompson helped the Lynx to the 2020 state championship and to a runner-up appearance this past season.
