A Pierre couple has 30 days to gather more signatures from neighbors showing support for their rezoning request.
Jack and Beth Dokken want to rezone their home in the Pierre Acres Addition (2301 SD Hwy. 1804) from single family residential to two family residential.
During a public hearing at this week’s Pierre City Commission meeting, Jack Dokken said he plans to turn his current home into two apartments– one in the basement, the other on the main level.
The Dokkens plan to live on a nearby lot in a home they’re currently remodeling. Neighbor Dan Adams spoke against the rezoning request citing worries about increased traffic.
Neighbor Curt Merriman says he’d rather not see the property rezoned.
The commission asked the Dokkens– who currently have signatures of support from 12 of the 25 neighbors– to contact anyone they haven’t already spoken with about the rezoning request and report back to the commission in a month.
