SIOUX FALLS – A three-point barrage helped South Dakota State to its first win of the season Thursday 83-59 over Utah State in the Bad Boy Mowers Crossover Classic at the Sanford Pentagon.
The Jackrabbits hit 15 threes, led by five from Baylor Scheierman, who led all scorers with a career-high 23 points. He was 9-of-13 shooting, 5-of-9 on threes, and had four rebounds, three steals and two assists. Douglas Wilson scored 16 on 7-of-10 shooting. Alex Arians hit three three-pointers and scored 13. David Wingett also hit three from long range and tallied 11 points. Noah Friedel scored 10.
SDSU (1-1) shot 56 percent from the floor and on threes and led for nearly 38 minutes.
The Jackrabbits will play St. Mary’s on Friday at 5:30 PM in their final game of the event.
