BROOKINGS – South Dakota State women’s basketball entered the AP Top 25 rankings Monday for the first time in 11 years.
The Jackrabbits are ranked 22nd and are 3-0 after last Sunday’s 75-72 overtime win over Gonzaga, which was then ranked 18th, on a three-pointer by Lindsey Theuninck with 3.5 seconds left. SDSU had last been ranked in the AP poll in the 2008-09 season. The Jackrabbits were ranked for 10 weeks that year, reaching number 16 in the final regular season poll.
Also, the Jackrabbits’ Myah Selland was named as the Summit League Player of the Week. Selland had 17 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Creighton, then scored 18 in the victory over Gonzaga.
South Dakota State will next play Thursday at Kansas State.
