MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota Timberwolves played without their best player last night in Los Angeles against the defending NBA Champion Lakers, and it showed, as the Wolves were beaten soundly, 127-91. Minnesota had an impressive 116-111 win at Utah on Saturday night, but lost star forward Karl-Anthony Towns to a wrist injury in the fourth quarter of that game. An evaluation by a hand specialist in Los Angeles indicated a dislocation that will not require surgery, but it will keep Towns from playing for the time being. He’ll be re-evaluated on week-to-week basis. In his first two games of the season, Towns averaged 22 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists.
